In case you had any doubt, it turns out that Elsa Hosk is as good of a designer as she is a model. Her wildly chic and trend-forward line Helsa has become a major stand-out at Revolve and FWRD since its debut last fall, and it routinely flies out of stock when new pieces drop. PSA: Bomber jackets are this year’s solution to tricky transitional weather. No other layer is quite so well-suited to rushed mornings and not-too-cold, not-too-hot climates, especially if you want to look chic as you navigate the changing of the seasons. Bomber jackets are insulating, easy to throw on over anything and incredibly cosy if you choose an oversized silhouette (of which there are many to choose from—more on that later).
The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater celebrated its 65th anniversary with an opening night gala that brought out Hollywood’s elite including actress Cynthia Erivo who co-stars in “Wicked” alongside Ariana Grande. For the event, held at New York’s famed City Center, Erivo chose a simple look from Valentino’s Resort 2024 collection: a black turtleneck crop top teamed with a high-waisted maxi skirt that embodied quiet luxury. The sparkling embellishment and flowing train added interest, as did the two-strand pearl necklace she wore wrapped around her neck. The singer accessorized with several pearl and hoop earrings and showed off a bejeweled manicure. Other notable stars in attendance included honorary chair and “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin, actress Bianca Lawson, and model Damaris Lewis. Hostin wowed in a ruffled tulle gown while Lawson looked holiday-ready in a green velvet suit styled with a lace-trimmed top. Lewis paired a fringe miniskirt with a zippered patchwork jacket, bringing the look together with a braided bun and pointy-toe pumps. The performance centered around the transcendent Black American cultural masterpiece “Revelations” performed with a live choir and orchestra, as well as a dance tribute to iconic Artistic Director Emerita Judith Jamison choreographed by Hope Boykin. Celebrating Jamison’s 80th birthday, the homage was set to live renditions of “Feeling Good” and “Both Sides Now” each performed by Erivo. The event marks the beginning of Ailey’s annual holiday engagement at New York City Center from November 29 to December 31, 2023. One thing about me? I’m constantly schlepping. Whether it’s to an office, a friend’s house, my parent’s house, my boyfriend’s house, I’m always in need of a good, solid bag with a zipper and enough storage to hold all of my things — makeup, skincare, and shoes included. I’ve long been a fan of Dagne Dover and had to get my hands on their 2023 Fall/Holiday line, Hyperchill. The three new colors are so fun, and I had to snag the large Landon carryall in the cool green-grey color called Microchip (I have the XL in a no longer available purple-ish burgundy color, so my set is giving Barney in the chicest way). I’ll ride and die for these bags — really, they’ve never done me wrong — and am looking forward to growing my collection.
Between work, events, running errands, and hanging out with friends who don’t live near me, I’ve often outside all day long. And for extended stretches of time spent outside, you need a specific bag that can hold all the essentials. I always lean towards crossbody bags for their convenience of a hands-free experience, but smaller bags don’t always cut it. I’ve been on the hunt for an elevated tote bag which is more practical for my lifestyle.
