5 Hairdressers On The Exact Moment They Broke Up With A Client

“This client used to come to me for a couple of years. She was never happy with the colour. It was either too warm or too cool; too ashy or too brassy. Then one day, I did the colour, toner and treatment, and when I was blowdrying she said she didn’t like the shade. I said, ‘Okay, let’s tone again,’ so we toned again. We did this three times. At the end of the appointment, she said she didn’t like her hair and she was very aggressive. Not polite at all. I said to her, ‘Can you please stand up?’ She asked, ‘Why?’ I told her again to stand up, and then, ‘Leave the salon. I’m not going to do your hair ever again. Not me, not anyone in this salon.’ read more

I Objectively Have Enough Shoes, But Then I Saw These On-Trend Styles From Nordstrom, Zara, and Shopbop

silver pointed shoe with buckles

Here in New York, we are experiencing our first tastes of spring (hello, 60-degree days!), and that has me cleaning out my shoe closet in preparation for the season ahead. As I start to transition my wardrobe and retire those knee-high boots and chunky loafers until next winter, I made a mental checklist of all the best shoe trends for spring/summer 2024 and which ones I could fill in with what I already own. I soon realized that the new-drop sections of Nordstrom, Zara, and Shopbop have all the trend-forward styles I could imagine. Even better, the majority of these on-trend styles are under $200, so I can load up on a few pairs without serious buyer’s remorse. read more

The 7 Best Deals To Shop From Topicals Skincare’s Sephora Sale

Our verdict: “I have only started incorporating retinol in my body care routine in the last couple weeks, but I’ve already seen a noticeable difference in the suppleness of my skin. This luxurious body serum is to thank for it. The retinol and AHAs gently chip away my dead skin, while hydrating agents like squalane and lactic acid pump up the moisture. It feels delicate and expensive on my skin, like a face cream would, and the scent is clean and milky. The exfoliant works so well that sometimes I can see bits of dead skin rubbing off as I run the lotion through my limbs. My only quip? A lot of product gushes out with each squeeze, so you have to be a bit careful.” — Venus Wong, Senior Writer read more

I Tried This Viral K-Beauty Brand After Discovering It on TikTok and Never Looked Back

Fong-Min Liao

If you’ve read any of my other writing, you’d know that I’m a big K-beauty fan. There are some really great K-beauty products out there for irritation- and acne-prone skin, and one of my absolute favorite brands is Beauty of Joseon. I first fell in love with the brand when (like many others) I discovered its viral sunscreen on TikTok and it has become a staple in my routine ever since. The formula is so creamy, lightweight, hydrating, and most importantly, didn’t cause new breakouts for me. Naturally, that led me to want to try a slew of other things from the brand and let me tell you, they did not disappoint. I gave a handful of Beauty of Joseon’s best offerings a whirl for a month. For all my thoughts on the brand, keep on scrolling. I’m breaking it all down ahead. read more
