Here in New York, we are experiencing our first tastes of spring (hello, 60-degree days!), and that has me cleaning out my shoe closet in preparation for the season ahead. As I start to transition my wardrobe and retire those knee-high boots and chunky loafers until next winter, I made a mental checklist of all the best shoe trends for spring/summer 2024 and which ones I could fill in with what I already own. I soon realized that the new-drop sections of Nordstrom, Zara, and Shopbop have all the trend-forward styles I could imagine. If you’ve read any of my other writing, you’d know that I’m a big K-beauty fan. There are some really great K-beauty products out there for irritation- and acne-prone skin, and one of my absolute favorite brands is Beauty of Joseon. I first fell in love with the brand when (like many others) I discovered its viral sunscreen on TikTok and it has become a staple in my routine ever since. The formula is so creamy, lightweight, hydrating, and most importantly, didn’t cause new breakouts for me. Why did you end your long-term relationship?
Looking back, the relationship absolutely ran its course. We didn’t break up for any particular reason, really, as in to say we didn’t really have any major fight or issue that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Rather, we had gotten so comfortable together that we were sort of just coasting along, happy enough but not really progressing. Years ago, when I first began working in fashion, I received some unsolicited, albeit excellent, advice from a more senior editor: Invest in your wardrobe. While my closet is nothing close to a designer display room, I have taken this tip to heart and have always prioritized shopping for quality over quantity. For me, this means allocating more of my budget to basics that I wear regularly rather than the latest trends that might not be a long-term fit. read more
