The early December chill had no effect on Olivia Wilde‘s outfit choice at the People’s Choice Awards on Dec. 6. On Tuesday, the “Don’t Worry Darling” star, styled by Karla Welch, levitated down the red carpet in a flowing, sheer gown from Dior’s 2023 ready-to-wear collection. Wilde layered the transparent outfit over black underwear and added on a pair of strappy black heels and a Dior belt that doubled as a strapless purse.
As of late, practically every time we’ve spotted Kendall Jenner, she’s been wearing super-sharp, point-toe boots or heels. As such, the ‘90s silhouette has hit its stride in 2022, quickly becoming one of the year’s most sought-after styles following a long period of round- and square-toe supremacy. There’s only one problem. After spending so much time away from our wardrobes, we’re all a bit rusty on what to actually wear with all our new pointy footwear. That’s where Jenner comes in.
This year, the first seasonal movie I watched was Netflix’s Christmas rom-coms, Love Hard. It follows Natalie (Nina Dobrev), who travels 3,000 miles across America just before Christmas to surprise the man she has been virtually dating for the past few weeks. The twist? When she arrives, she realises that Josh (Jimmy O. Yang), her long-distance lover, has catfished her. Love Hard has so many of the things you want from a Christmas film: two very good-looking stars, an unsuspecting love interest, great one-liners. I mean, the protagonists even sing a version of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” that unpacks its misogynistic undertones. But when the film was over, I was left with a strange, unsatisfied feeling. It ends (and let me insert a hugely predictable *spoiler alert* here) with Josh and Natalie falling in love as she dismisses his identity fraud as though it were a silly argument about what to have for dinner.

Just as it is for many people, my relationship with denim is complicated. I’ve found jeans I loved, but none without flaws. I resonated deeply with the recent conversation around standing jeans on TikTok. I’ve always accepted that I have standing jeans that look great on, but are too tight for all-day sitting. And then oppositely, I have sitting jeans that I’m not obsessed with style-wise, but that are actually comfortable enough to sit in for hours on end. However, a new pair of jeans from The Consistency Project (TCP) completely reframed my thinking around the two categories. In short, sitting jeans can be just as fashion-forward while still maintaining their comfort levels. (Also, I now simply call them jeans.)
