Every fashion fan knows that after the red carpet comes the afterparty, and many an outfit change. While the 2023 BAFTAs red carpet was awash with dramatic gowns (we’re looking at you, Florence Pugh), sparkling makeup (hello, Jodie Turner-Smith), and plunging necklines (courtesy of Lily James), the afterparties offer a chance for celebrities to let loose and swap ballgowns for ensembles they can bust a move in. And this year’s fashion parade did not disappoint.
Before we begin, I’d like to admit I’m the first person to try a weird, viral fashion hack after seeing it pop up on my TikTok FYP. Tights as pants? Yep. Coastal grandma? Been there, done that. Bad Bunny–inspired sunglasses? Already on the list.

As Hollywood stars arrived at London’s Royal Festival Hall for the award show on Feb. 19, we noticed many wearing small blue ribbons attached to their dresses and suits. The pins, which featured white text that read “#WithRefugees,” were designed to show support for refugees and displaced people around the world — an especially timely cause following the deadly earthquake in Turkey and Syria and the ongoing war in Ukraine.
